Songs, refracted
GROJ is a French-Australian artist who writes songs and then dismantles them. Live vocals, melody and harmony become raw material for analog electronics, fractured rhythms and shifting arrangements, allowing the same emotional idea to exist simultaneously as songwriting and as a record.
His current work explores what happens when a song is reorganised across different temporal, semantic and emotional dimensions: hooks become textures, voices become rhythm, and intimate material gradually mutates into something physical and club-facing.
Featured across BBC Radio 1 (Ben Böhmer Essential Mix) and BBC Radio 6 Music (Nemone, DJ Breakwave), with recent support from Eelke Kleijn and Pure FM Berlin.
